Opening day - Hawaii Polo Club 2013

Team Equus began the 50th anniversary season of Hawaii Polo with an emboldened win over Team Wealth Strategy Partners. The match was a thrilling taste of what’s to come this season in Mokuleia.

With perfect conditions on the ocean-front course on Oahu’s North Shore the Opening Day match began with Governor Neil Abercrombie throwing the ball to start the match. The players’ nerves were evident in the early minutes of the first chukker with both teams jockeying for position until Team Equus’ Javier Garcia got deep into a clash and pushed a shot in for the first goal of the season. Raymond Noh extended the lead 3-0 with 2 consecutive goals to end the 1st chukker. Despite a fast-paced defense by Wealth Strategy Partners' Noelani Picollo & Brian Laporte, and a furious rally by Chris Dawson in the 4th to bring his team closer at 5-3, Raymond Noh came back to score 2 more to seal the match. Julian Alvarez punched the only goal in the 5th to end the game with Team Equus running away with the 8-3 win.
